October 2019 The Move

• Mt. Zion departure with last Sunday, October 6

• Load Truck and Jeep onto a trailer for a departure October 7

• Work an event October 9-10 in Atlanta and then continue onto Chester Gap.

• Unload on Saturday, October 12

• Preach on October 13, if they don’t have someone already booked.

• PATTI REMAINS IN RIDGELAND, MS - teaching until after the first of the new year.

September 2019 How the Lord works:

• ROGER CALLED TO A CHURCH IN VA.

  • Early in the month I went to Chester Gap, VA and met with the search committee seeking an interim pastor for church on the mountain and then preach on that Sunday morning. The next week the search committee voted unanimously to recommend to the church that they call me. The church vote took place Wednesday, September 11.

• HOUSE CONSTRUCTION BEGINS UPON FINANCING APPROVAL

  • The locating and purchasing a lot to build a house home was completed in early August and now the plans for a home are in the hands of the lender for approval. Upon approval the work will begin the middle of October with completion schedule around the first of April 2020.

  • Pray for Patti as she completes another series of medical tests and as she will remain in MS until the house if built.

  • Pray for Roger as he moves a large portion of the household items that have been in a storage building since the sell of the house in Ridgeland to Chester Gap until the new house is ready (about 40 minutes away).

• RESIGNING AS INTERIM PASTOR TO MT. ZION - Very Difficult

  • These dear people have become like family over these months. It is hard leaving them and yet together we have been anticipating this day…. they are close to calling a pastor and I was upfront with them about looking for a church in Virginia.

  • Pray for Mt. Zion’s Pastor Search Committee as they really zero in on their short list - that His man will be identified and He will know this church is where God wants Him.

August 2019 The Fall

• Patti begins her last year as a teacher. Once the house is completed she will resign and make “one move” to the new house. We are not looking forward to being separated for several months while I am in Virginia and she is in Mississippi.

• Submitted proposed house plans to the HOA, which were approved and contracted with a builder.

July 2019

• Closed on the sell of our house in Ridgeland , MS and moved into an apartment. [Mailing address is: P O BOX 1651, Ridgeland, MS 39158]

January - May: What an awesome time as we witness the Lord do so incredible things in our lives. Leaving the MS Bapt Convention in December 2018 at the time seemed to be a burden that would be difficult and yet how He has cared for us every step of the way. While I miss many things about the work - it is great serving a church once again, focused entirely on their growth and mission/ministry.

• Did an eight week sermon series (started in Febr) that resulted in me being called as interim pastor for Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Florence, MS

• Served during the week as a long term substitute teacher working mostly with an elementary school.
